About the Oudtshoorn Municipality MFM Internship 2026

Oudtshoorn Municipality is offering 1 Internship under the Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMIP) on a 2-year contract.

The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme is a structured professional training and work experience programme aimed at providing practical exposure in all aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office. The programme is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003, together with the related reforms.

This internship follows a logical training sequence that builds on the skills and competencies acquired during university or technikon studies. Where appropriate, the programme may also contribute towards the qualification in Municipal Finance Management in line with the Municipal Minimum Competency Regulations, Gazette 29967 of June 2007.

The successful candidate will sign an agreement in addition to the employment contract to ensure full commitment to the programme, including participation in all educational and workplace assignments and compliance with municipal policies and procedures.

  • R120 000 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A National Diploma or B-degree
  • One of the following majors:
    • Financial Accounting
    • Auditing
    • SCM
  • A valid driverโ€™s licence or learnerโ€™s licence
  • Must not be older than 35 years

Key Performance Areas

The successful intern will:

  • Participate in a structured professional training and work experience programme
  • Gain practical exposure in all aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office
  • Build on financial management skills acquired during tertiary studies
  • Work towards meeting the competencies required in municipal finance management
  • Participate fully in educational and workplace assignments
  • Follow all municipal policies and procedures linked to the programme
