About the Transnet Diesel Mechanic Programme
The Transnet Artisan in Training Programme is designed for recently qualified apprentices who have completed a Diesel Mechanic Trade Test and hold a Red Seal qualification.
The programme gives successful candidates an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience and apply their academic, vocational and technical knowledge in a real working environment.
Successful participants will receive practical training, mentorship and exposure to industry-specific tasks over a period of 24 months.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have a Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate.
- Have completed the trade assessment within the past four years.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Have less than one year of work experience.
- Be South African.
Programme Purpose
The programme aims to:
- Provide recently qualified artisans with practical workplace experience.
- Allow participants to apply technical and vocational knowledge in a real-world environment.
- Improve employability.
- Provide hands-on training.
- Offer mentorship.
- Expose participants to industry-specific tasks.
- Build practical skills over the 24-month programme period.
