About the RBH CA Bursary Programme

The Royal Bafokeng Holdings Chartered Accountant Bursary is a specialised funding programme aimed at developing future Chartered Accountants from the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN).

Unlike general bursaries, this programme focuses only on the CA stream, which is one of the most respected and in-demand professions in South Africa.


Fields of Study Covered

The bursary covers:

  • Accounting Sciences (CA stream only)

Students must be accepted at a SAICA-recognised public university and begin their first year in 2027.


Chartered Accountant Career Path

Successful bursary recipients will follow the CA(SA) pathway:

  1. Accounting Sciences Degree
  2. Honours / CTA qualification
  3. SAICA Training Contract (Articles)
  4. Board Examinations
  5. Qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA))

This bursary supports the first step in that journey.


Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the RBH CA Bursary Programme, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be part of the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN)
  • Be accepted to study Accounting Sciences (CA stream)
  • Be entering first year in 2027
  • Study at a SAICA-recognised university

Academic Requirements:

  • Mathematics: Level 5 or higher
  • English: Level 5 or higher
  • Accounting: Level 5 or higher

⚠️ Important:

  • Mathematical Literacy and Technical Maths are NOT accepted

Funding Restrictions

Applicants must note:

  • You cannot receive another bursary at the same time
  • This includes:
    • NSFAS
    • Private bursaries
    • Corporate bursaries
    • SETA funding

This rule is strict and must be considered before applying.


Required Documents

Applicants must submit certified copies of the following:

  • South African ID (not older than 3 months)
  • Proof of residence from Lekwalo la Kgosana
  • Grade 11 results
  • Grade 12 Term 1–3 results
  • Matric certificate (once available)
  • Proof of university acceptance (provisional or final)
