Prince Albert Municipality is offering a Financial Internship opportunity within the Directorate: Financial Services. The internship programme aims to provide practical training and workplace experience in municipal finance management.

The programme is aligned with the Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP), which focuses on building financial management skills in local government.


Internship Details

  • Position: Financial Intern (X1)
  • Directorate: Financial Services
  • Post Identification: WC052-1.2.3.1.5
  • Contract Duration: Two-year fixed-term contract
  • Remuneration: R108 000 per annum (all-inclusive)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma with majors in:
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Finance
    • Risk Management
    • Auditing or related fields
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Good management and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
  • Applicants must be between 21 and 35 years old

Overview of the Internship Programme

The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) is a structured professional training and work experience programme.

The internship provides exposure to:

  • Municipal budgeting
  • Treasury functions
  • Financial administration
  • Policy implementation
  • Municipal finance systems

Interns will sign both an employment contract and an internship agreement.
