About the Hot Cares & Guvon Academy Bursary 2026
Guvon Academy, in partnership with Hot Cares, is offering a life-changing bursary opportunity to one deserving South African student who dreams of becoming a professional chef.
The bursary was generously donated during the HOT 1027 Teddython 2025 and forms part of Guvon Academy’s ongoing commitment to empowering young South Africans through education and skills development.
The successful candidate will study towards the Occupational Certificate: Chef (SAQA ID 101697), a comprehensive three-year chef training programme that combines classroom learning, practical culinary training, and workplace experience within the hospitality industry.
The programme is scheduled to commence in July 2026 at Guvon Academy in Johannesburg.
Bursary Coverage
The bursary is valued at approximately R350 000 and will cover:
- Full tuition fees
- Textbooks and study materials
- Professional chef uniforms
- Professional knife set
- Access to internationally recognised Highfield Qualifications from the United Kingdom
- Practical and workplace-based training

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed Matric / Grade 12
- Be passionate about culinary arts
- Intend pursuing a career as a professional chef
- Be willing to study full-time at Guvon Academy in Johannesburg
Selection Process
Only one successful applicant will receive the bursary.
The bursary recipient will be announced on 02 July 2026.

- Motivational video explaining why they should receive the bursary
- Short video showcasing their passion for culinary arts and cooking
