What Apprentices Will Learn
During the apprenticeship programme, successful candidates will gain exposure to technical and workshop duties.
Apprentices will assist with the servicing, maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery and equipment.
They will also participate in inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, fault finding and troubleshooting.
The programme includes exposure to mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
Apprentices will support qualified technicians in workshop operations, stock and parts control, workshop administration and housekeeping duties.
They will also be expected to follow workshop safety standards and deliver professional customer service and technical support.
Training and Development
Throughout the apprenticeship, candidates may be required to attend both practical and theoretical training.
The programme may include distance-learning modules, supplier training, manufacturer training, internal technical development initiatives, trade-related assessments and practical evaluations.
Apprentices must maintain satisfactory academic and workplace performance throughout the programme.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric completed or currently in progress.
Mathematics, Technical Mathematics, N2 Mathematics or Engineering Mathematics.
Mathematical Literacy will not be considered.
Valid driverโs licence or currently working towards obtaining one.
Basic computer literacy.
Good communication skills.
A genuine interest in mechanics, machinery and the agricultural industry.
Added Advantages
The following subjects, qualifications or experience will be advantageous:
Mechanical Technology.
Diesel Trade Theory.
Motor Trade Theory.
Agricultural Technology.
Exposure to farming or agricultural machinery.
Previous practical mechanical experience.
Competencies and Personal Attributes
The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn.
