Implats Bursary South Africa 2027

Impala Platinum Refineries is inviting students to apply for its Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year.

The bursary is aimed at South African Matric learners who want to study towards degree qualifications in engineering and science-related fields.

Preference will be given to students from Eastern Ekurhuleni, Ward 72 and schools surrounding the operation.

Fields of Study Covered

Bursaries will be awarded for degree studies in the following fields:

Chemical Engineering.

Metallurgical Engineering.

Chemistry.

Electrical Engineering, preferably Heavy Current.

Mechanical Engineering.

What the Bursary Covers

The Implats Bursary will cover the following expenses:

Tuition fees.

Accommodation.

Study materials.

Additional Student Support

Bursary recipients will also receive skills development support for long-term career growth.

Students may also participate in vacation work at the Refineries during the December and January holidays.

This provides students with practical exposure and industry experience while they complete their studies.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be South African citizens.

Applicants must currently be in Matric.

Applicants must intend to study towards a degree qualification at NQF Level 7.

Applicants must apply for one of the fields of study listed above.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum result of 60% or Level 5 for English in Grade 11.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum result of 60% or Level 5 for Physical Science in Grade 11.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum result of 60% or Level 5 for Mathematics in Grade 11.

Preference will be given to students from Eastern Ekurhuleni, Ward 72 and schools surrounding the operation.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and required to complete various assessments.

Applicants who do not receive feedback within 30 days after the application deadline should regard their application as unsuccessful.
