About the Xhariep District Municipality Finance Internship 2026
Xhariep District Municipality is inviting applications for the position of Finance Intern within the Budget and Treasury Office.
The internship is offered on a 3-year fixed-term contract and is aimed at new market entrants who want to gain practical experience in municipal finance.

Responsibilities
The successful intern will be exposed to work in the entire Budget and Treasury Office, including:
- Expenditure administration
- Payroll
- Supply Chain Management
- Budget and VAT returns
- Compilation and submission of compliance reports
- Working with various Acts and legislation applicable to the municipality
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Three-year Bachelorโs Degree or National Diploma with major concentration in:
- Economics
- Accounting
- Internal Audit
- Risk Management
- Must be a new market entrant
Knowledge and Skills
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge of Pastel Accounting
- Knowledge of any financial system
- Computer skills
Knowledge of the Pastel Accounting system will be an added advantage.
