About Letsatsi Borutho Trust Bursary Programme 2027
The Letsatsi Borutho Trust is a community trust that owns shares in the Droogfontein Solar Power plant for the benefit of communities located within a 50-kilometre radius of the plant.
The Trust believes that everyone in its communities should have an opportunity to reach their dreams. One way it supports this goal is by empowering individuals to further their studies and improve their future opportunities.
About the Bursary
The Letsatsi Borutho Trust is offering individuals who are out of school an opportunity to study further at recognised South African tertiary education or training institutions.
This includes:
- Public TVET colleges
- Private TVET colleges
- Universities of technology
- Academic universities
- Other recognised tertiary education or training institutions
Fields and Programmes Covered
Prospective students are invited to apply if they are studying towards:
- NQF Level 6 technical programmes
- Skills training programmes
- Plumbing
- Bricklaying
- Other technical training programmes
- National Diploma programmes
- Degree programmes
Applicants who completed their NSC or NTC in previous years may also apply.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be South African citizens
- Must reside within a 50km radius of the Droogfontein Solar Power plant
- Must have been accepted at a recognised public or private South African tertiary education or training institution
- Must complete the application form correctly and in full
- Must submit all required supporting documents
Bursary Coverage
The value of the bursary will be determined on an individual basis.
The bursary may cover the following study-related costs:
- Tuition fees
- Registration fees
- Examination fees
- Accommodation in a tertiary residence or equivalent
- Meals
- Learning materials
- Textbooks
- Stationery
Selection Criteria
Successful applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:
Academic Performance
Selection will be based on academic results, including:
- Preliminary Grade 12 results
- Final Grade 12 results
- Latest academic results
- Highest grade passed
Applicants who want to study towards NQF Level 6 technical, skills training, national diploma or degree programmes may apply.
Financial Need
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they do not have sufficient financial resources to continue with tertiary education.
