Field Ranger โ Addo Elephant National Park

The successful candidate will report to the Field Ranger Sergeant.
Field Ranger Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
- NQF Level 2 National Certificate in Conservation Guardianship.
- On-the-job training following successful completion of Basic Field Ranger Training.
- EMI Grade 5 designation, or be able to qualify within the stipulated period.
- One to two years of relevant experience as an Armed Environmental Monitor, Field Guard or within Conservation.
- Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation.
- Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
- Computer literacy.
- Basic technical skills.
- Required NQF Level 4 firearm proficiency documentation for handling and using a self-loading rifle.
- At least 60% physical fitness and willingness to undergo a fitness assessment.
- Willingness to undergo a medical examination.
A SAPS criminal record should be attached if available. Criminal checks will also be conducted on the successful candidate.
The following are listed as desirable:
- National Diploma in Nature Conservation.
- Certificate in Resource Guardianship at NQF Level 5 or equivalent.
Field Ranger Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform duties including:
- Conducting regular law-enforcement patrols on foot.
- Working in areas inaccessible by vehicle and in difficult terrain.
- Participating in anti-poaching operations.
- Working flexible hours, night shifts and overtime where required.
- Participating in camping deployments and observation posts.
- Assisting with the control, capture, handling and transportation of animals.
- Completing documentation and reports relating to law-enforcement activities.
- Assisting with invasive plant, alien biota, soil erosion and fire management.
- Collecting information required for management plans.
- Capturing field data electronically.
- Maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Assisting with water provision and wildlife management.
- Controlling visitor behaviour and access.
- Assisting with the movement of EPWP contractors.
- Conducting fence patrols and fence maintenance.
- Assisting with maintenance of generators, pumps, storerooms and conservation infrastructure.
- Assisting with the management and maintenance of assets.
Field Ranger Accommodation
The successful Field Ranger will be required to:
Reside inside the park.
Official accommodation will be made available to the successful candidate.
The remuneration package includes a basic salary based on the Paterson B3 job grade, together with allowances and benefits in accordance with applicable SANParks conditions of service.

Room Attendant Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 or NCV Level 4.
- One to two years’ work experience in a public cleaning or tourism environment.
- Customer service knowledge.
- Knowledge of SANParks Tourism Standard Procedures.
- Health and safety awareness.
Applicants should also demonstrate:

- Public-space cleaning skills.
- Time-management skills.
- Communication skills.
- Planning and organising ability.
Room Attendant Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for duties including:
- Cleaning chalets.
- Changing bed linen.
- Sweeping and mopping floors.
- Vacuuming where required.
- Polishing furniture.
- Emptying waste containers.
- Cleaning public areas.
- Reporting abnormalities to the supervisor.
- Controlling inventory items in chalets.
- Ensuring appropriate stock quantities are available.
- Reporting maintenance defects.
- Assisting with laundry where necessary.
- Providing high-quality customer service.
- Responding to and anticipating guest needs.
- Meeting SANParks service standards.
- Planning and prioritising daily work.
- Managing time efficiently.
Room Attendant Accommodation

Reside outside Mountain Zebra National Park.
