Transnet Work Integrated Learning Programme 2026 / 2027

Transnet is offering an 18-month Work Integrated Learning programme aimed at giving TVET students and recent graduates practical workplace experience.

The programme is designed to help participants apply their academic knowledge in a real working environment while gaining hands-on training, mentorship and exposure to industry-specific tasks.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have Matric or an equivalent qualification and must have completed the required N4 to N6 theoretical subjects for the programme they are applying for.

Applicants must also be South African citizens aged between 18 and 35 years.

Preference will be given to people living with disabilities.

Applicants must not have a bursary obligation with another company.

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must provide:

  • Most recent confirmation or letter from the institution.
  • Certified Matric certificate.
  • Academic record.
  • Certified copy of ID.

Key Responsibilities

Participants may assist with projects within departments or work-streams, perform operational and administrative tasks under supervision, support documentation and reporting, participate in training and mentorship programmes, and shadow experienced professionals.

Other responsibilities may include market research, data collection, preparation of reports and presentations, process improvement activities and providing updates on assigned tasks.

Participants will also be expected to follow Transnet policies, safety requirements and professional standards.

Competencies

Applicants should have good written and communication skills, basic computer skills, the ability to work well in a team, problem-solving ability, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Preference will be given to suitably qualified applicants from designated groups in line with Transnet’s Employment Equity Plan and organisational targets.
