The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority invites qualifying South African students residing in KwaZulu-Natal to apply for the KZN Tourism and Film Authority Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year.

KZN Tourism and Film Authority Bursary 2027

The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority is offering bursary funding to students who reside in KwaZulu-Natal and are studying, or intend to study, at recognised institutions within the province.

The bursary supports selected undergraduate and postgraduate programmes linked to the film, creative and tourism sectors.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary may provide funding for:

Tuition fees

For students at public universities, tuition may be fully covered.

For students at private institutions, tuition funding is capped at government rates.

The bursary may also cover:

Accommodation

This applies to students who live at least 50 kilometres away from their institution.

Successful students may also receive a:

R1,500 monthly allowance

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be South African citizens and must reside in KwaZulu-Natal.

Candidates must either be currently in Matric or have already completed Matric.

Applicants must be studying or intending to study in one of the eligible fields listed above.

They must also be registered, or intending to register, at a recognised and accredited public or private tertiary institution located in KwaZulu-Natal.

Preference will be given to students living with disabilities and previously disadvantaged students.

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit:

  • Certified copy of South African ID.
  • Certified June Matric results if currently in Matric.
  • Certified Matric certificate if Matric has already been completed.
  • Certified full academic record or transcripts if currently studying.
  • Proof of registration or acceptance from a tertiary institution in KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Institution’s 2027 fee schedule on an official letterhead.
  • Proof of parents’ or guardians’ household income.
  • Proof of disability, where applicable.
  • Motivational letter explaining the chosen field of study and why the applicant should receive the bursary.

Household income documents may include recent payslips, an employment letter, SASSA grant proof, pension slip or an affidavit if unemployed.

Income documents should not be older than three months.
