About the Discovery Wealth Management Learnership

The Discovery Wealth Management Learnership provides young people with an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised National Certificate: Wealth Management NQF Level 5 qualification while obtaining practical workplace experience in the financial services industry.

The programme combines structured theoretical learning with hands-on workplace experience, giving successful candidates exposure to financial planning, wealth management, financial products and the development of training materials for financial advisers.

Successful learners will work towards a:

National Certificate: Wealth Management – NQF Level 5

The programme combines structured learning with practical experience in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

Successful learners may be responsible for:

  • Supporting financial planning and learning and development specialists with the review and development of training materials for financial advisers.
  • Researching financial products, market trends and regulatory developments.
  • Gathering and analysing information for training materials, case studies and scenario-planning exercises.
  • Preparing reports and summaries used to develop training content.
  • Organising and maintaining databases of training materials and resources.
  • Collecting feedback from training participants and identifying opportunities to improve content or delivery.
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions to improve training solutions.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in financial advising and wealth management.
  • Participating in professional development and training sessions.
  • Learning from experienced Certified Financial Planners (CFPs) and learning and development practitioners through guidance and mentorship.

Grade 12 Requirements

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and meet the following subject requirements:

  • Mathematics: Minimum Level 4 – 50%.
  • English: Minimum Level 4 – 50%.
  • Mathematical Literacy: Minimum Level 5 – 60%.
  • Second Language: Minimum Level 4 – 50%.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Not currently be engaged in post-Matric studies.
  • Not be formally employed.

  • Have basic computer skills, particularly MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Meet the stated South African citizenship requirement.

An incomplete tertiary qualification in a financial-related field will be advantageous.

Skills You Can Develop

The programme provides an opportunity to develop practical skills in areas such as financial services, wealth management, research, data analysis, financial products, training-content development and professional communication.

Learners will also have opportunities to interact with experienced CFPs and learning and development professionals for mentorship and workplace development.
