About the SHRA Internship Programme

The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) is offering a two-year internship programme aimed at providing unemployed young graduates with practical workplace experience.

The programme is open to South African citizens below the age of 35 who have obtained relevant qualifications from universities and universities of technology.

The HR Internship will provide graduates with practical exposure to Human Resources administration, recruitment, employee records, training and development, compliance and other HR functions.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a recognised three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma at NQF Level 6/7 in one of the following fields:

  • Human Resources Management
  • Human Resource Development
  • Industrial Psychology
  • Labour Relations
  • A related qualification

Applicants should also be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities

The successful HR Intern will assist with:

  • Providing administrative support to the Human Resources function.
  • Recruitment and selection processes.
  • Employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Maintaining and updating employee records and HR information.
  • Leave administration and other employee-related records.
  • Preparing HR reports, correspondence and presentations.
  • Coordinating employee wellness, training and development initiatives.
  • Responding to HR queries and providing general employee administration support.
  • Maintaining confidential personnel files and ensuring records are audit-ready.
  • HR projects, events and other initiatives.
  • Learning and applying HR policies, procedures and relevant employment legislation.
  • General HR administrative duties.
  • Developing professional HR knowledge and workplace skills.
  • Ad hoc HR audits and compliance-related activities.
