About the Production Learnership Programme

The Production Learnership Programme is a 36-month structured training programme designed to equip learners with practical and theoretical knowledge of the steel manufacturing process.

Successful candidates will be trained as process operators at the Vanderbijlpark operations. The programme follows an outcome-based learning approach, combining institutional learning with on-the-job training. Learners will be regularly assessed to monitor progress and competency development.

A Learner’s Agreement will apply. Completion of the learnership does not guarantee permanent employment.


Learnership Coverage

The learnership bursary includes:

  • Payment of institutional training costs
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Personal insurance
  • Bursary allowance

⚠️ ArcelorMittal South Africa does not charge any fees for learnerships. Any request for payment should be treated as fraudulent.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Completed Grade 12 qualification
  • Minimum subject requirements:
    • English: 45%
    • Mathematics: 40% OR
    • Mathematics Literacy: 50%
  • Must be willing to undergo a medical examination
  • Preference will be given to South African youth under the age of 35
