About the Programme
The Peace Officer and Traffic Warden Training Programme is presented by the Directorate: Community Services – Division: Law Enforcement, in collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety.
The programme aims to strengthen law enforcement capacity within the Breede Valley Municipal Area by equipping qualifying candidates with accredited training required to perform Peace Officer and Traffic Warden duties.
The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety will cover the full cost of training for qualifying participants.
Programme Details
- Position: Peace Officer and Traffic Warden Training Programme
- Duration: As determined by the Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety
- Stipend: Training costs fully covered (no stipend specified)
- Location: Breede Valley Municipal Area

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must submit certified copies (not older than 6 months) of:
- Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate (Statements of results not accepted)
- South African Identity Document
- Valid Code B Driver’s License (minimum requirement)
- Clear Criminal Record issued by SAPS or proof of application
(Any criminal record will result in automatic disqualification) - Comprehensive CV (not required to be certified)
Additional Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be physically fit and medically healthy
- Be a South African citizen aged between 20 and 35 years
- Reside within the Breede Valley Municipal Area (Affidavit required)
- Communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
- Have own transport to and from the training facility
- Successfully pass:
- Diagnostic written test
- Physical fitness test
- Random drug testing
- Driving test

Disqualification Criteria
Applicants will be disqualified for:
- Failure to submit required documentation
- Submission of fraudulent documentation
- Canvassing Councillors or Municipal officials
- Failure to follow application instructions
General Conditions
- Shortlisted candidates will undergo screening and vetting.
- By applying, applicants consent to background and reference checks.
- The Municipality reserves the right not to appoint.
- If no feedback is received within three months after closing date, consider the application unsuccessful.
