CHIETA Internship Programme 2026

The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority, commonly known as CHIETA, is offering four internship opportunities to graduates seeking practical workplace experience.

The structured programme will run for 24 months and will expose successful candidates to professional working environments within the CEOโ€™s Office, Finance, Research and Skills Planning, and Corporate Services business units.

Successful interns will receive a monthly stipend of R7 000 for the duration of the programme.

1. Administration Support Internship

  • Business Administration
  • Management
  • A related field

The successful intern will gain practical exposure to administrative support functions within the Office of the Chief Executive Officer.

Possible learning areas may include office administration, document management, meeting coordination, reporting and communication support.

2. Supply Chain Management Internship

Position: Supply Chain Management Intern

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have completed a National Diploma in:

The programme will provide practical workplace exposure within CHIETAโ€™s supply chain management environment.

The successful intern may gain experience in procurement administration, supplier records, document control, purchase processes and compliance support.

3. Research and Skills Planning Internship

Position: Research and Skills Planning Intern

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have completed a National Diploma in:

  • Business Administration
  • Management
  • A related field

The intern will gain experience supporting research, planning and skills-development activities.

This may include assisting with research administration, data collection, information management, reporting and sector skills-planning processes.

4. Human Resources Internship

Business unit: Corporate Services
Position: Human Resources Intern
Number of positions: One

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have completed an NQF Level 7 qualification in:

  • Human Resource Management

The internship will provide practical exposure to Human Resources processes within CHIETAโ€™s Corporate Services business unit.

The successful candidate may gain experience in recruitment administration, employee records, training coordination, HR reporting and organisational support.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have achieved an overall academic average of at least 65%.
  • Have no previous work experience.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Reside in the location where the selected position is advertised.
  • Be available to complete the full 24-month programme.

A valid driverโ€™s licence will be an added advantage but is not listed as a compulsory requirement.

Monthly Stipend

Successful candidates will receive a stipend of:

R7 000 per month

The stipend will be paid for the duration of the 24-month internship, subject to the conditions of the internship agreement.
