City of Johannesburg invites students from the Johannesburg community to apply for the Human Settlements Internship Programme 2025.
Internship Application Closing Date: Friday, 30 May 2025
Internship Location: Human Settlements Department, 222 Smith Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
Internship Duration: Up to 18 months
Stipend:
- R10 109.86 per month (for graduates with a completed qualification of at least 120 credits)
- R3 500.00 per month (for students still enrolled)
About the Internship
The City of Johannesburg’s Internship Programme is aimed at providing on-the-job exposure and experiential training for students and graduates within the Johannesburg community, specifically those who have not previously participated in any internship programme.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Business Management
- Business Administration
- Public Management
- Public Administration
- Or related fields (NQF Level 6/7)
- No previous experience required
- Proficiency in English (reading & writing)
- Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Business Management Directorate
- Assist in strategic planning, monitoring & evaluation, and risk management
- Conduct site visits and risk assessments
- Handle and deliver sensitive and confidential documents
- Contribute to development of business plans and quarterly reports
Key Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Research and data analysis (especially with Excel)
- Ability to manage confidential information
- Understanding of municipal procedures and compliance
