About the YES Learner (Merchandiser) Programme
Clover’s YES Learner Programme provides unemployed youth with hands-on workplace exposure in retail merchandising. Learners will be placed at Clover branches and retail stores, where they will gain real-world experience in stock control, shelf management, customer interaction, and sales execution.
This opportunity is ideal for young people who want to start a career in sales, retail, or merchandising.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Fluent in Business English
- Willing and able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Must be unemployed youth (as per YES Programme criteria)

Duties and Responsibilities
Stock Control and Ordering
- Apply correct stock control measures in-store and in back-up areas
- Minimise and record returns according to store work plans
- Prevent out-of-stock situations and report issues to the Area Manager
- Place accurate and timely stock orders
- Ensure products are clean, neat, and well-presented on shelves
- Control crates and equipment according to company policy
Shelf and Merchandising Control
- Pack shelves according to store flow and merchandising rules
- Maintain fridges and shelf sets as per provided planograms
- Ensure correct pricing labels (PI labels) per product
- Display and maintain point-of-sale materials
- Complete all relevant administration accurately
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with:
- Store Management
- Area Managers (AM)
- Head Office (HO)
- Customers
- Fellow Merchandisers
