Internship Overview
The CSIR is offering a Financial Administrator Internship within its Financial Services Support Team under the Advanced Production and Security Division. This opportunity is designed to provide graduates with practical experience in accounting and financial administration.
Interns will work closely with management accountants and gain exposure to real-world financial systems, policies, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Gain exposure to CSIR financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Capture projects and contracts in financial systems (PeopleSoft)
- Generate invoices and assist with debtor follow-ups
- Support financial reporting, including timesheets and expenditure reports
- Process financial transactions and ensure compliance with regulations
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate financial records for audit purposes
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
- Provide administrative support to finance teams
- Participate in ad-hoc finance-related tasks
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- A 3-year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Skills and Competencies
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and VAT
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and email)
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
