The Department of Tourism invites South African unemployed youth to apply for the EPWP Tourism Monitors Programme 2026 for a period of four (4) months.

Programme Overview
The Tourism Monitors Programme is part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) aimed at providing short-term employment and practical experience to unemployed youth. Successful candidates will be placed at tourism attractions close to their residential areas and will sign a 4-month contract ending on 31 August 2026.
Available Positions
A total of 13 Tourism Monitors will be placed at the following sites:
- Table Mountain National Park (Ref: TMNPX9R) – 9 posts
- Agulhas National Park (Ref: ANPX3R) – 3 posts
- Bontebok National Park (Ref: BNPX1R) – 1 post
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be unemployed youth aged 18 – 35 years
- Must have a Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
- Must be able to communicate in English
- Must reside within 40km – 50km radius of the placement site
- Must have reliable transport to and from work
- Must be willing to work flexible hours (weekends & public holidays)
- Must have an interest in the tourism sector
Added Advantage
- Qualification in tourism or environmental studies
Disqualification Criteria
Applicants will be disqualified if:
- More than one applicant is from the same household
- Proof of residence is submitted via affidavit (not accepted)

- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Certified copy of ID
- Certified copies of qualifications
- Proof of residence (not older than 3 months)
Selection Process
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews near their area
- Successful candidates will undergo:
- Medical examination
- Criminal record clearance
