About the Internship Programme
George Municipality is offering a 24-month Financial Management Internship Programme aimed at developing graduates for careers in local government finance.
This programme forms part of the National Treasury Financial Management and Budget Reform Programme, which focuses on building financial management capacity within municipalities.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in key financial areas while working within the Financial Services Directorate.

Areas of Training
Interns will be trained in:
- Budgeting
- Financial Statements
- Internal Audit
- Other financial functions within the municipality
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a financial field
- Majors in one or more of the following:
- Financial Management
- Management Accounting
- Local Government Finance
- Financial Accounting
- Internal Audit
- Must have completed the qualification successfully
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
Preference will be given to:
- Recent graduates
- Applicants residing in George and surrounding areas (Mossel Bay, Knysna, Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay, etc.)
