About the Gedex Apprenticeship Programme
Gold One New Shelf 1186 (Gedex) Operations is a gold mining operation located in Brakpan, approximately 30km east of Johannesburg. The mine is offering apprenticeship opportunities for 2026 to develop skilled artisans in various mining and engineering trades.
This programme provides practical training and exposure in a real mining environment, preparing candidates for long-term careers in the mining industry.
Available Apprenticeship Fields
Applicants can apply for the following trades:
- Instrumentation
- Fitter
- Earthmoving Mechanics
- Boilermaking
- Electrical
- Auto Electrical
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Completed N2 or NCV Level 4
- Certified copies of qualifications and ID (not older than 3 months, in PDF format)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be flexible and able to work shifts
- Must be able to work underground
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must have a clear criminal record (screening will be conducted)
- Must be medically fit
- Must be under the age of 35
- Proof of residence required
Note: Preference will be given to applicants from Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (Wards 71, 72, 73, 75, and 97), but other applicants may still be considered.
