Greater Giyani Municipality is inviting applications from suitably qualified graduates for internship opportunities available in various departments.

The internships are offered on a two-year contract and are aimed at graduates who want to gain workplace experience in municipal administration, performance management, project management, human resources and public accounts committee support.

1. PMS Intern

Department: Office of the Municipal Manager
Reference Number: 18/GGM/26
Contract Duration: Two years
Salary: R100 000 per annum
Number of Posts: 1

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Degree or National Diploma in Public Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Development Studies
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • No work experience required

Responsibilities

The successful intern will assist with:

  • Performance management
  • Conducting performance appraisals
  • Facilitating performance management systems
  • Administrative activities

2. PMU Interns

Department: Technical Service Department
Reference Number: 20/GGM/24
Contract Duration: Two years
Salary: R100 000 per annum
Number of Posts: 2

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Driverโ€™s licence
  • No work experience required

Responsibilities

Successful interns will assist with:

  • Delivering technical support
  • Evaluating proposed projects in alignment with the Municipal IDP and regional and provincial growth and development plans
  • Facilitating labour-intensive construction methods in line with EPWP framework and reporting requirements
  • Project registration on the MIS
  • Attending technical and site meetings on MIG and LGES projects
  • Exposure to planning, design, tender processes and construction supervision

3. HRM Intern

Department: Corporate Service Department

Contract Duration: Two years
Salary: R100 000 per annum

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Degree or National Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • No work experience required

Responsibilities

The successful intern will assist with:

  • Maintaining personnel records
  • Administering employee benefits
  • Coordinating liaison with benefit scheme administrators
  • Assisting with leave records of employees
  • Facilitating preparation of salary payment-related documents
  • Facilitating recruitment and selection services
  • Providing support in drafting advertisements

4. MPAC Intern

Department: Corporate Service Department
Reference Number: 23/GGM/26
Contract Duration: Two years
Salary: R100 000 per annum
Number of Posts: 1

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Degree or National Diploma in Public Management
  • Public Administration
  • No work experience required

Responsibilities

The successful intern will assist with:

  • Coordinating processes and procedures for MPAC operations
  • Reviewing and investigating matters referred to the committee by other Council committees
  • Analysing financial and performance reports
  • Reporting on possible risks and irregularities
  • Assisting MPAC with possible corrective measures
  • Identifying unintended consequences
  • Providing possible recommendations
  • Coordinating guidance, facilitation and stakeholder relations
  • Coordinating administrative functions
