The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has opened applications for the 2026 academic year. To apply for NSFAS funding, all applicants must first create a myNSFAS account on the official website.

What You Need Before Creating a myNSFAS Account
To set up your account, make sure you have:
- A stable internet connection
- An active cellphone number or email address
- A valid South African ID number
Step-by-Step Guide to Create a myNSFAS Account
- Visit www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on the myNSFAS Account tab at the top right of the screen
- Click on Create Profile
- Enter your ID number as the username and create a password
- Provide your email address and cellphone number
- Allow NSFAS to verify your details
- Click on Register
Verification Process
- An OTP (One-Time Pin) will be sent to your email and cellphone number.
- Enter the OTP and click Submit.
- You will then receive an SMS and email confirmation that your myNSFAS account has been created.
Important: Creating a myNSFAS account does not mean you have applied for funding. You must still log in and complete the full application form.

Your myNSFAS account will allow you to:
- Apply for funding online
- Track the progress of your application
- Update personal details (email, cellphone number, banking details)
- Receive communication directly from NSFAS
