Requirements

To qualify for these positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Senior Certificate
  • Driver’s License: Minimum Code B
  • Additional Qualification: Basic Traffic Officers Diploma
  • Experience: At least one year of practical experience in law enforcement
  • Criminal Record: Must possess no criminal record

Key Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Understanding of road traffic and public transport legislation
  • Knowledge of vehicle inspections and impoundment
  • Completion of law enforcement documents
  • Firearm and Ammunition Act knowledge
  • Code of Conduct and Dangerous Goods regulations
  • Operational guidelines on law enforcement equipment
  • Customer relationship management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (at least two provincial languages)
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Driving and legal evidential skills

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing road traffic and transport legislation
  • Examining driver’s licenses and motor vehicles
  • Monitoring compliance at Driver License Testing Centres (DLTC) and Vehicle Testing Stations (VTS)
  • Conducting visible traffic control and crime prevention activities
  • Performing administrative and related duties
