KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) invites applicants to apply for Bursary Programme 2024

KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) Bursary for Aeronautical Engineering

Overview: The KZN EDTEA Bursary is aimed at empowering disadvantaged youth within the KwaZulu-Natal province who are pursuing studies in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand or University of Pretoria. The bursary aims to cover various academic expenses, including tuition fees, prescribed books, accommodation, meals, and an allowance.

Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship
  • Reside within KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Aged between 15 and 34 years old
  • Currently in Matric (in 2023) or completed Matric
  • From a disadvantaged background, preferably rural
  • Enrolled or intending to pursue an undergraduate Aeronautical Engineering qualification
  • Accepted to study at WITS or UP in 2024
  • Strong academic record

Application Process:

  2. Specify “StudentRoom.co.za” as the source of information in the application form.
  3. Submit clear copies of supporting documents, including ID, academic records, proof of acceptance, proof of residence, and parental/guardian information.
  4. Send the application via post or hand delivery to the provided addresses.

  • Grade 11 final results and Matric latest results (certified copy)
  • Proof of acceptance letter at WITS or UP (if available)
  • Full academic record (if currently studying)
  • Motivational letter (1 page)
  • Proof of residence in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Parents or guardians’ ID documents (certified copies)
  • Parents or guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips or affidavit if unemployed)
  • Parents or guardians’ income and expense statement
