Mossel Bay Municipality is offering an Internal Audit Internship opportunity within the Office of the Municipal Manager.

The programme is aimed at unemployed South African graduates who have completed a three-year degree or National Diploma in Internal Audit or a related field and need practical workplace experience.

Applicants residing within the Mossel Bay municipal boundaries will receive preference.

Who Can Apply?

The internship is intended for unemployed South African graduates from recognised higher education institutions.

Applicants must have completed a three-year qualification in Internal Audit or a closely related discipline and must be seeking practical work experience connected to their completed studies.

Preference will be given to applicants who reside within the Mossel Bay municipal boundaries.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a completed National Diploma or degree in Internal Audit or a related field.
  • The qualification must be at least NQF Level 6.
  • Be in possession of the complete qualification when applying.
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be fluent in at least two official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Have met the academic requirements for the advertised field.
  • Not have previously been employed as an intern in the public sector.
  • Be willing to work overtime and over weekends when required.

Knowledge of municipal financial regulations will be an advantage.

Internship Duration

The successful candidate will initially be appointed for 12 months.

The municipality may extend the internship for a further period of between 12 and 24 months. The total appointment period may not exceed three years.

Any extension will depend on municipal requirements, performance and applicable contractual conditions.

Monthly Stipend

The successful intern will receive a stipend of:

R9 715.41 per month

Applicants should note that this is a contractual internship appointment and does not automatically guarantee permanent employment after the programme.
