Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine is offering an excellent Metallurgical Graduate Development Programme for 2026, aimed at young South African graduates who have completed qualifications in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.

Location: Limpopo and North West Provinces (operations), with Head Office in Rosebank, Johannesburg
Closing Date: 13 January 2026

This programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world mining operations by providing structured, practical, work-based training within a platinum mining environment.

The programme focuses on developing technically competent, work-ready graduates who can adapt to the demands of the mining industry and become employable at the end of the training period. Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged South Africans, in line with the mine’s Employment Equity Policy.

Purpose of the Role

The Metallurgical Graduate Programme is intended for graduates who have already obtained a qualification in Extraction Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering. The purpose of the programme is to:

  • Provide structured, practical workplace exposure
  • Enable graduates to adapt effectively to the mining work environment
  • Develop technical, professional, and behavioural competencies
  • Improve long-term employability within the mining and minerals processing sector

Key Responsibilities

Graduates appointed to the programme will be expected to:

  • Work shifts as required by operational needs
  • Adhere to company conditions of employment, policies, and code of conduct
  • Take part in development and performance discussions
  • Maintain consistent and reliable work performance
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Actively seek feedback and apply it for personal growth
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities

This is a hands-on role that requires commitment, discipline, and a willingness to learn in a demanding production environment.


Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Advanced Diploma or Degree in:
    • Extraction Metallurgy, OR
    • Chemical Engineering

Preference Criteria

  • Preference will be given to applicants residing near or around Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine
  • Historically disadvantaged South Africans will be prioritised in line with Employment Equity principles
