About the Work Integrated Non-Technical Learner Programme
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Non-Technical Learner Programme is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical workplace exposure aligned to their field of study. The programme enables learners to apply academic knowledge in a real corporate environment while receiving mentorship, training, and hands-on experience.
The programme runs for 18 months and focuses on building professional, communication, administrative, and analytical skills within Transnet Port Terminals (TPT).
Programme Locations
The available positions are based at the following terminals:
- Cape Town Terminal
- Saldanha Terminal
Applicants must be willing to work at either location.
Key Responsibilities and Outputs
Task Execution
- Assist with specific projects within Corporate Affairs or related work-streams
- Perform routine operational and administrative tasks under supervision
- Support documentation, record-keeping, and reporting functions
Learning and Development
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain workplace insights
- Engage in problem-solving activities to develop analytical skills
Communication and Collaboration
- Interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Provide regular progress updates on assigned tasks
- Serve as a point of contact for queries and assistance
Research and Analysis
- Conduct basic research, data collection, and analysis
- Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools
- Assist with process improvement initiatives
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Maintain ethical conduct, confidentiality, and professional standards
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Matric certificate or equivalent
- N6 qualification in:
- Public Relations
- Communications
- Journalism
- or another related qualification
- Must be a South African citizen
- Age between 18 and 35
- No bursary obligation with another company
- Must provide:
- Certified copy of Matric certificate
- Academic record
- Certified copy of South African ID
- TVET College experiential learning letter
