Feltex’s Connacher business unit is looking for a successful candidate to join its Maintenance Department as an Electrical Apprentice.
The apprenticeship provides an opportunity for a candidate interested in the electrical trade to receive practical training while assisting qualified electrical personnel with maintenance activities in an industrial environment.
The Electrical Apprentice will assist with maintenance work orders involving electrical equipment. This includes helping with testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting faults, repairing equipment and replacing defective components.
The position is offered as a temporary apprenticeship.
Electrical Apprenticeship Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science; or
- N3 with Electrical Trade Theory, Mathematics and Engineering Science; or
- NCV Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Electrical.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful Electrical Apprentice will receive training and practical exposure to the electrical trade.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Receiving regular training according to an agreed training programme to understand and learn the electrical trade;

- Helping diagnose electrical faults;

- Helping with lifting and fetching supplies;
- Unloading and checking deliveries;
- Receiving training to identify hazards and defects;
- Identifying equipment that may require adjustment or repair;
- Helping ensure compliance with relevant codes, legislation, working practices and occupational health and safety requirements; and
- Maintaining accurate worksheets, records and documentation associated with assigned work.
The successful apprentice may also be required to perform other reasonable duties assigned by management.
