Job Purpose

The Millwright Apprentice will assist with the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment.

The successful candidate will work under qualified artisans and engineers while receiving structured technical training.

The role provides practical exposure to manufacturing, production, maintenance and engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities

The apprentice will assist qualified millwrights with the maintenance and repair of production equipment and machinery.

The candidate will support fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

The apprentice will also participate in planned maintenance, preventative maintenance and breakdown maintenance activities.

Other responsibilities include assisting with equipment installations, modifications and commissioning activities.

Technical Duties

The successful candidate will learn and apply safe working procedures and engineering standards.

The apprentice will use engineering tools and measuring instruments correctly and safely.

The role also includes assisting with inspection and replacement of machine components and spare parts.

The candidate will support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.

Workplace Duties

The apprentice will maintain housekeeping standards in workshops and production areas.

The candidate will complete logbooks, training assessments and apprenticeship requirements.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science.

An N2 or N3 qualification or relevant engineering studies will be advantageous.

Applicants should have a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.

Computer literacy will be advantageous.

Applicants must be able to work shifts and overtime when required.
