This fully funded opportunity enables exceptional South African students to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD) or conduct research in the U.S. as a Visiting Student Researcher (VSR).

Available Study Tracks
Master’s or PhD Degrees
Study towards a two-year Master’s or Doctoral degree at a top U.S. university.
Visiting Student Researcher (VSR)
Conduct research at a U.S. university for up to one year. Open to currently enrolled South African PhD students, especially those with NRF funding.
Who is Eligible?
You must:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident (with 5+ years of residency)
- Not hold U.S. citizenship or dual citizenship
- Hold the relevant academic qualifications:
- Master’s applicants: 4-year bachelor’s degree, BTech, or 3-year bachelor’s with Honours
- PhD applicants: Must hold a Master’s degree
- VSR applicants: Must be enrolled in a PhD program at a South African institution
