Mechanical Apprentice: Fitter and Turner

Purpose of the Role

To provide hands-on and theoretical training in a structured mechanical workshop under the supervision of a qualified artisan.

Responsibilities

Practical Training:

  • Execute tasks as instructed
  • Assist with maintenance of parts and equipment
  • Maintain tools and components
  • Apply theory in real-world settings
  • Complete required modules

Theoretical Training:

  • Attend classes and complete subjects
  • Work through and apply theoretical modules

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NSC)
  • N3 qualification or technical subjects (advantageous)
  • Manual dexterity and practical insight
  • Technical drawing interpretation skills
  • English and/or Afrikaans proficiency
  • Medically fit for physical work

Electrician Apprentice

Purpose of the Role

To undergo structured training in electrical systems under the mentorship of experienced artisans.

Responsibilities

Practical Training:

  • Execute assigned tasks
  • Assist with maintenance of electrical parts
  • Maintain tools
  • Implement learned skills
  • Complete modules

Theoretical Training:

  • Attend technical training sessions
  • Complete subjects and apply knowledge in practice

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NSC)
  • N3 qualification or technical subjects (advantageous)
  • Strong manual and technical judgement
  • Network and flow diagram interpretation skills
  • English and/or Afrikaans proficiency
  • Medically fit

Boilermaker Apprentice

Purpose of the Role

To receive training in boilermaking, metalwork, and plate fabrication with growing responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

Practical Training:

  • Assist with fabrication of components
  • Maintain tools and workspace
  • Complete practical tasks and modules

Theoretical Training:

  • Attend sessions and complete academic modules
  • Apply knowledge in the workshop

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NSC)
  • N3 or relevant technical subjects (advantageous)
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Problem identification skills
  • English and/or Afrikaans proficiency
  • Medically fit
