The Western Cape Government is inviting unemployed graduates residing in the province to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme 2025/2026. This Youth Development Programme aims to provide young people with valuable workplace experience for a period of 3 to 24 months.

About the Graduate Internship Programme
The internship is designed to equip young graduates with on-the-job training, professional exposure, and career guidance. Successful applicants will gain skills, work experience, and references, making them more competitive in the job market.
Interns will be placed across the following departments:
- Agriculture
- Police Oversight and Community Safety
- Cultural Affairs and Sport
- Department of the Premier
- Economic Development and Tourism
- Environmental Affairs & Development Planning
- Department of Infrastructure
- Local Government
- Mobility Department
- Provincial Treasury
- Social Development
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen residing in the Western Cape
- Be between 20 and 35 years old
- Have completed one of the following:
- Certificate (NQF 5)
- Diploma (NQF 6)
- Degree (NQF 7)
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8 or higher)
- Be unemployed and seeking practical work experience
Recommendations:
- Applicants who are financially constrained and lack a support network will be given preference
- Students from Western Cape institutions will also receive preference
Skills and Competencies Required
- Good communication skills (written & verbal) in at least two official languages of the Western Cape
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to use office equipment
- Strong planning and organising skills
Stipend
A monthly stipend will be paid, determined by the Department.
