About the Client Coverage Internship Programme

When you join the Client Coverage team at Standard Chartered Bank, you will collaborate across teams to solve real business problems, identify opportunities, and deliver sustainable outcomes for clients and the bank.

Client Coverage forms part of the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) function, responsible for managing and developing relationships with corporates, governments, investors, and financial institutions. Interns gain exposure to financing, trade, cash management, and financial markets solutions that shape the future of global finance.

Where You Could Work

Interns are placed in one of the following Client Coverage teams:

Corporate Coverage

Partnering with multinational, local, and mid-market corporates to deliver tailored banking solutions, including:

  • Cash management
  • Trade finance
  • Lending and capital markets
  • Advisory services

Financial Institutions Coverage

Working with clients across:

  • Banking and insurance
  • Asset management
  • Public sector
  • Private equity

This team delivers solutions across financing, risk management, cash and securities, and investment strategies.


Internship Roles

Interns are guided into roles that best match their skills and interests:

Assistant Relationship Manager

  • Support Senior Relationship Managers in deal execution
  • Coordinate between clients and product partners
  • Assist with account planning and business approvals
  • Identify sales opportunities and engage multiple stakeholders

Credit Analyst

  • Support Relationship Managers in managing risk and structuring deals
  • Conduct credit, financial, and industry risk analysis
  • Learn about environmental, sustainability, and reputational risks
  • Gain deep exposure to CIB products and risk frameworks

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Strong academic performance and extracurricular involvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively with agility and resilience
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Permanent legal right to work in South Africa
  • Must be a penultimate-year student
  • Available to intern in June 2026 and start full-time employment in July 2027
