The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is offering a 24-month fixed-term internship for graduates who want to gain practical experience in Human Resources within a professional public sector environment.
Internship Overview
- Position: Intern: Human Resources (X3 Posts)

- Duration: 24 Months
- Stipend: R13 000 per month
- Reporting Line: Manager: Human Resources
This internship provides hands-on exposure in HR administration, recruitment, employee relations, and training & development.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Support
- Screen job applications
- Schedule interviews
- Prepare recruitment packs
- Assist with onboarding processes
- Conduct pre-employment screening
HR Administration
- Support payroll and employee benefits processes
- Maintain HR records and databases
- File employee documentation
- Organise meetings and HR events
Learning & Development
- Assist with training programmes
- Support employee development initiatives
Employee Relations
- Assist with HR-related employee matters
- Support workplace engagement initiatives
Project Support
- Assist with HR projects (e.g., wellness and performance management programmes)
Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with policies and HR standards
- Follow ISO and best practice guidelines
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:
- Human Resources Management
- Human Resources Development
- Or related qualification
Experience:
- No prior work experience required
Knowledge Requirements
Basic understanding of:
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Labour Relations Act (LRA)
- Employment Equity Act (EEA)
- Skills Development Act (SDA)
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Good communication skills
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn
