Anglo American Bursary Programme 2016

Anglo American Corporate Office offer bursary opportunities to top-performing learners with an interest in mining-related disciplines and who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of studying at a South African university. Bursaries are provided to individuals based on merit and top academic achievement. We offer vacation work to all our bursars at the end of each year to develop their understanding of the theory they learn at university and to provide practical experience to those that require it for mining-related subjects. Individuals with a passion for their area of study and who have a clear view of what their future career path looks like, are viewed favourably by Anglo American, as these are qualities that are aligned with our core values.

As an Anglo American bursary student, our primary focus is to ensure that you succeed at university. Our Bursary Programme covers the necessary costs which allow our bursars to focus on their academics. In addition, support pertaining to student life is offered and the company is in a position to assist bursars with technical expertise to support them with university assignments. Our bursary team make regular contact with them and provide them with the necessary mentoring and coaching to equip them to cope with the pressures at university.

The number of bursaries awarded each year is dependent on the business need. Anglo American is a mining company, hence the majority of our bursaries awarded are in the following fields:

  • Any Engineering Discipline within the Mining sector
  • Extractive Metallurgy
  • Risk Management (Safety)
  • Sustainability & environmental studies
  • Occupational Health
  • Mining
  • Land or Quantity Surveying
  • Law

Closing date: 31 August 2015. All Bursary applications will be reviewed in October 2015!
