About University of Venda

The University of Venda is now accepting applications for the academic year 2024. Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications promptly to ensure they meet the application deadline.

Situated in the picturesque Vhembe district of Limpopo Province, Thohoyandou, the University of Venda (Univen) is a prominent South African higher education institution.

Univen consists of four faculties that offer a diverse range of programs and courses. These faculties encompass Science, Engineering, and Agriculture; Management, Commerce, and Law; Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education; as well as Health Sciences.

Prospective students, including matric learners, interested in enrolling at the university can now submit their applications for the 2024 academic year.

Application Process:

It’s essential to note that all applicants, including undergraduates, postgraduates, South African, and international applicants, must apply online. To initiate the online application, applicants need a South African Identity Number or Passport Number for international candidates, a ten-digit cellphone number, and a valid email address.

During the online application process, applicants have the flexibility to save their progress and return at a later time to complete their application.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to submitting your application:

  1. Visit the University of Venda website: https://www.univen.ac.za/students/student-support-services/how-to-apply/
  2. Create a 5-digit PIN.
  3. Complete your application by clicking the “Submit” button.
  4. Upon submission, you will receive a student number (keep this safe for future reference).
  5. Complete your application by uploading the required documents.
  6. Pay the application fee (R100).
  7. After successfully submitting and completing your online application, you can log into the My access page to view your application details.

Required Documents:

When applying for undergraduate studies, students must upload PDF copies of the following documents:

  • ID or passport.
  • Grade 11 final (December) results with the school’s stamp.
  • Academic record and certificate of good conduct (if applicable for those who have previously studied at a tertiary institution).
  • Copy of study/residence permit/medical insurance/SAQA Evaluation Certificate (for international applicants).
  • Proof of payment (R100 application fee).

Admission Requirements:

For degree programs, the minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi) with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the recognized 20-credit NSC subjects. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum point score of 26. A grade 12 certificate with a bachelor or matric exemption is required if grade 12 has been achieved.

For diploma programs, the minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.

For certificate programs, the minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi.
