BUSINES STUDIES PROGRAMME REPORT 191 (NATED) FULL-TIME

Buffalo City Public FET College is a vibrant multi-sited institution of further education and training. Buffalo City Public FET College, has two mega campuses situated in the East London and Mdantsane area, which offers a wide range of learning programmes. School of Occupational Training offers short courses, accredited skills programmes and learnerships.

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Business Management enables prospective students to start and manage their own businesses or they can be employed in many sectors of the business world as managers or sales persons.

 

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Financial Management enables the prospective student to record accounting information manually and electronically. Neatness, orderliness, thoroughness, accuracy, sound judgement and a sense of responsibility are the characteristics needed for this field of study.

 

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: HUMAN RESOURCES

Human Resources Management deals with formal systems in the management of people within the organisation. The areas related to attracting and maintaining an effective workforce includes: human resources planning, job analysis, recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, training and development, reward systems and labour relations.

 

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: EDUCARE

Educare offers specialized education and training in Early Childhood Development and understanding of the physical, mental and emotional needs and development of the pre-school child

 

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL AND CIVIL ENGINEERING N4-N6

Introduction

Advanced engineering programmes are offered in a Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering Field. Artisans and apprentices, who wish to improve their technical qualifications, can advance to the N Diploma for which 12 credits must be achieved on the N4 to N6 levels. Proof of applicable practical experienced is also required.

National N Diploma

Candidates must comply with the following minimum requirements in order to obtain a National N Diploma:

• A N6 Certificate in either Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering with a minimum of twelve(12) advanced instructional offerings with at least a pass in three (3) instructional offerings in each of the grades N4, N5 and N6.
• Documentary proof of at least two years applicable experience in business and industry. This should facilitate the practical implementation of any two (2) of the N6 subjects relevant to the candidate’s vocational training.
• A National N Diploma is evaluated as a three (3) year tertiary qualification

Duration of the Programmes

These programmes are offered on a full-time block release basis of 11 weeks.After successfully completing an N Level, a student may continue during the following trimester with the next level. In this way it is possible for a successful student to obtain three N certificates in one year.

Admission Requirements

A candidate must be in possession of a N3 or a Grade 12 (Technical) certificate with a pass in at least three applicable subjects in order to be admitted to the programme.

Examinations

National examinations take place three times a year.

• Candidates require a term mark that will be combined with the examination mark in order to pass.
• The pass mark is minimum 40% per subject.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 or N3 Certificate

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

A National N Certificate may be obtained after completing two semesters of successful part-time study per year. The N6 Certificate is evaluated by the HSRC as equivalent to a Senior Certificate + 2 years qualification.

NATIONAL N CERTICATE: PUBLIC MANAGEMENT

 

Students will be trained in the general principles of political analysis, public values, strategic management and organisation as well as gaining a comprehensive background to the South African system of government and processes involved in the running of the State.

This programme is strongly recommended for students interested in careers in governmental organisations or local authorities.

N6 Certificate

Documentary proof of at least eighteen (18) months applicable experience in commerce and industry that has as its main function the practical implementation of any two of the N6 subjects relevant to the candidate’s vocational training

NATIONAL N CERTIFICATE: CIVIL ENGINEERING

 

Civil Engineering involves designing, building and maintaining of various structures like buildings, bridges, dams etc.

 

NATIONAL N CERTIFICATE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Electrical Engineering involves electronic engineering and telecommunication. The domain of this field is every piece of electrical, electronic equipment or system.

NATIONAL N CERTIFICATE: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

 

Mechanical engineering involves design, manufacture and maintenance of machines manufactured.

SPECIAL COURSE FOR ENGINEERING MANAGERS

 

The course is designed to equip engineering managers with practical, informative and effective managerial skills.

The duration of the engineering course is six trimesters for part-time candidates.

• Admission requirements Technical Grade 12 or / Senior Certificate with Mathematics and Science.
• Subject offering is subject to demand.

 

NATIONAL N DIPLOMA

 

• After the completion of N6, the student has to go for in-service training in an industry related to the study for a period of two years in order to qualify for a diploma in an engineering field of specialization.
• A national N Diploma is evaluated as a three (3) year tertiary qualification.
• Part-time registration requires FULL PAYMENT OF FEES AT REGISTRATION.
