Internship Details:
- Position: Asset Management Internship
- Duration: Maximum of 18 months
- Stipend:
- Completed Qualification (360 credits): R9,960.45 per month
- Enrolled Student: R3,500.00 per month
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (NQF level 4)
- National Diploma in Finance or related field (NQF level 6)
- Only City of Johannesburg residents will be considered
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Procurement: Ensure a transparent system for procuring goods and services in line with the City’s procurement procedures.
- SAP Asset Register: Assist with the capitalization and updating of the SAP asset register for newly procured assets.
- Policy Adherence: Monitor adherence to the City’s control policies and procedures.
- Project Coordination: Manage special projects within the Group Finance department.
- Financial Management: Help ensure effective financial management and asset claims processing.
Key Learning Areas:
- Procurement Procedures: Learn the end-to-end asset management process, including procurement and asset capitalization.
- Internal Controls: Gain insight into how the City ensures fair, transparent, and cost-effective procurement processes.
- Human Resource and Administration: Understand how the Group Finance department handles HR and administrative functions.
- Risk Management: Learn how to reduce exposure to risks by maintaining effective internal controls.
Skills You Will Develop:
- Computer Literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
- Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Project Management: Manage small projects and assist in departmental initiatives
- Financial Management: Practical experience in managing financial processes and budgets
Core Competencies:
- Knowledge of MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act)
- Familiarity with Asset Management Policies and GRAP (Generally Recognized Accounting Practice)
- Attention to Detail and a focus on accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management and organizational skills
