EWSETA and Prisma Technical Practice Learnership 2026

Prisma Training Solutions, in partnership with the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority, has opened applications for the General Technical Practice Learnership Programme 2026.

The programme is supported by Rustenburg Local Municipality and is aimed at unemployed youth from selected communities in Rustenburg.

Successful learners will work towards the General Education and Training Certificate: General Technical Practice, which is registered at NQF Level 1.

This opportunity is suitable for young people who want to gain foundational technical skills, workplace readiness and a nationally recognised qualification.

About the Learnership Programme

The General Technical Practice Learnership is designed to help unemployed youth gain practical workplace skills and basic technical knowledge.

The programme combines theory and practical training, allowing learners to build useful skills while working towards a recognised qualification.

For many young job seekers, an NQF Level 1 qualification can become a starting point for future learnerships, apprenticeships, skills programmes and entry-level employment opportunities.

Qualification Learners Will Receive

Successful participants will work towards the following qualification:

General Education and Training Certificate: General Technical Practice

SAQA ID: 49753

NQF Level: 1

This qualification introduces learners to basic workplace principles, technical environments, safety practices and problem-solving techniques.

It is suitable for candidates who want to pursue future opportunities in technical, engineering support, maintenance, utilities, construction, manufacturing or related industries.

Programme Outcomes

Successful learners will be able to understand and follow safe working practices.

Learners will be able to select and use appropriate tools and equipment.

Learners will be able to follow instructions and use diagrammatic guides under supervision.

Learners will be able to work according to acceptable standards and evaluate the quality of their own work.

Learners will develop time management, study skills and self-management skills.

Learners will gain an understanding of basic business principles and workplace practices.

Learners will also learn basic problem-solving techniques within a defined work context.

The programme will also expose learners to workplace procedures, legislation and policies.

Learners may also gain knowledge of technologies used in the energy environment, alternative energy sources and energy efficiency concepts.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have Mathematical Literacy at ABET Level 3.

Applicants must have Communication at ABET Level 3.

Applicants must have a Grade 10 qualification.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 34.

Applicants must be unemployed.

Applicants must reside within the targeted Rustenburg communities.

The learnership targets unemployed youth residing in the following Rustenburg communities:

Phokeng.

Paardekraal.

Sunrise Park.

Boitekong.

Meriting.
