Important Registration Dates for Wits University 2024: A Guide for New First-Year and Returning Students
The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) has announced crucial registration dates for the academic year 2024, both for new first-year students and returning undergraduate students. It’s imperative for all prospective students to take note of these dates to ensure a smooth registration process and secure their places at the university.
New First-Year Students
For new first-year students who have received a firm offer from the university, the registration process can be carried out through two primary methods:
Online Registration:
- If you’ve received a firm offer, expect to receive an SMS offer and a firm offer letter via email from Wits University.
- Please carefully follow the instructions provided in the letter to complete your registration process online.
Faculty of Commerce Law and Management
New first-year students
- Online Registration: : If you are made a firm offer, you will receive an SMS offer and a firm offer letter via email from the University. Please follow the instructions in the letter.
- Assisted registration: 22 January and 25 January 2024, 08h00 – 16h00 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West.
Returning undergraduate students
- Online Registration: Opens 03 January – 11 February 2024
- Assisted registration: 19 January 2024, 12h00 – 16h00 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West
Postgraduate students, new and returning
- Online Registration: 03 January – 11 February 2024

Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment
New first-year students
- Online Registration:If you are made a firm offer, you will receive an SMS offer and a firm offer letter via email from the University. Please follow the instructions in the letter.
- Assisted registration: 22 January and 25 January 2024, 08h00 – 16h00 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West.
Returning undergraduate students
- Online Registration: 02 January to 19 February 2024
Note: Students who have pending appeals, supplementary assessment results, and deferred assessment results will not be able to register online at this time. Please refer to instructions in your outcome letter.
- Assisted registration: 19 January 2024, 08h00 – 12h00 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West
Postgraduate students, new and returning
- Online Registration: 02 January to 11 February 2024

New first-year students
- Online Registration: Online Registration for new first year students are only open in selected Health Sciences Programmes. Please enquire with the Faculty Registrar (Sandra.Benn@wits.ac.za).
- Assisted registration: Assisted Registration for first year students are only open to students where a firm offer has been given.
Faculty of Humanities, including School of Education
Returning undergraduate students
- Online Registration: 02 January to 20 February 2024
- Assisted registration (for students who are unable to register online):
- 23 January 2024, at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West.
- Curriculum Planning for Education students will take place at Wits School of Education – The Glass Labs as follows:

- Assisted registration (for students who are unable to register online): 26 January 2024 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West.

Faculty of Science
New first-year students
- Online Registration: If you are made a firm offer, you will receive an SMS offer and a firm offer letter via email from the University. Please follow the instructions in the letter.
- Assisted registration: 22 January and 25 January 2024, 08h00 – 16h00 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West.
You cannot choose the date when to come and register. Failure to register as soon as an SMS offer has been sent to you will result in the offer being withdrawn, and the place will be offered to another student. No telephonic or email acceptances can be made. You may only accept one offer. Acceptance of an offer alone does not secure or hold your place. You have to register and receive confirmation that you are a registered student for 2024.

- Assisted registration: 18 January 2024, 08h00 – 14h00 at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Wits Braamfontein Campus West
Postgraduate students, new and returning

Please note the BSc Honours Programme in the field of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences will formally start on the 5 February 2024
