About the Inxuba Yethemba Municipality IT Internship

Inxuba Yethemba Municipality has re-advertised two Information Technology Internship positions within its Corporate Services Department.

The Municipality is a Category B Municipality in the Chris Hani District, covering the towns of Cradock and Middelburg in the Eastern Cape.

The internship will run for two years, with successful candidates receiving a stipend of R5,000 per month.

Candidates from designated groups, including people with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12.
  • Degree or National Diploma in Information Technology.
  • Computer Science.
  • Application Development.
  • Software Development.
  • Business Systems.
  • Computer Networks.
  • Another relevant qualification at NQF Level 6 or 7.

Applicants must provide a full academic transcript.

Additional requirements include:

  • A+ certification.
  • N+ certification.
  • CCNA certification will be an advantage.
  • No previous work experience is required.

Proof of address obtained from the applicant’s Ward Councillor will be an added advantage.

Preference will be given to candidates who reside within the Inxuba Yethemba Municipal Area.

Responsibilities and Duties

Successful IT interns will assist with a range of ICT support and administration activities, including:

  • Providing end-user support.
  • Assisting with network and computer troubleshooting.
  • Coordinating specific sequences associated with troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Resolving application-related problems.
  • Installing new software and hardware.
  • Communicating with immediate supervisors about computer and user-related issues.
  • Setting up and configuring equipment and applications.
  • Providing ICT support to users.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining the functionality of application software.
  • Upgrading and repairing computers and printers.
  • Maintaining peripheral devices.
  • Setting up LAN cabling.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Attending logged calls remotely.

The internship is intended to provide practical workplace exposure within the Municipality’s ICT environment.
