YES Learnership Programme: Cash Processor 2025
Overview:
The Youth Employment Service (YES) Learnership Programme offers unemployed youth the opportunity to gain experience in cash handling, processing, and financial systems. The learner will be trained in the secure handling and sorting of cash, coin, and customer deposits, supporting national banking and retail operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics or Maths Literacy
- 6 months of cashier/teller experience (advantageous, not required)
- South African Citizen
- Interest in working in secure financial services and cash processing environments
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and Process Cash Deposits
- Acknowledge and validate deposits
- Sort and balance notes and coins
- Perform desktop deposit processing
- Operate bank-integrated systems and prepare payroll/change transactions
Coin and Note Handling
- Sort, process and reconcile cash
- Manage note sorting and coin sacheting machines
- Identify counterfeit and mutilated notes
Administrative Duties
- Assist with record-keeping and balancing
- Follow SOPs for cash security, reconciliation, and reporting
Quality & Governance
- Comply with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standards
- Promote ESG principles and clean work environments
- Adhere to safety and security standards
