Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) offer Nursing qualifications under the Department of Nursing Science which was established in 1975 and situated in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Talented, competent and dedicated, professional nurses are vital to the profession of Nursing. This is why, at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, we offer you the opportunity to become a Registered Professional Nurse through enrollment in the basic 4 year Nursing Degree Program (BCur).
During this program you will be professionally socialized into becoming a skilled, knowledgeable and independant Registered Nurse Practitioner. Candidates who successfully complete the program can register with the South African Nursing Council as a Nurse (General, Community, and Psychiatric) and Midwife.
Professional development does not end there. In order to assist you to achieve your full potential as a professional nurse, we offer a vast array of post basic and post graduate programmes to enable you to continue your professional development and in doing so, deliver quality nursing care to the people of South Africa.
