Knysna Municipality invites suitably qualified female graduates from the Garden Route District to apply for the Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) 2025.

Remuneration: R100 000 per annum (all inclusive)
About the Internship
The MFMIP is a National Treasury initiative designed to build capacity and equip graduates for careers in local government financial management.
Interns will:
- Gain professional exposure in the Municipal Budget and Treasury Office.
- Receive training in Finance, Internal Audit, and Risk Management.
- Learn about the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP), and related municipal policies.
- Follow a structured training sequence that culminates in a qualification in Municipal Finance Management as per National Treasury regulations.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have matriculated in the Garden Route District (Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, George, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Hessequa, or Kannaland).
- Hold a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced National Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Possess computer literacy and good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Advantage: Qualifications or experience in Internal Audit and/or Risk Management.
- Be female (only female candidates will be considered).
Conditions of Internship
- Successful candidates must sign an Internship Agreement in addition to the employment contract.
- Interns will be subject to the Municipal Disciplinary Code.
- Annual increases will apply as determined by the South African Local Government Bargaining Council.
