Agricultural Research Council (ARC) invites applications for GI Microbiology and Biotechnology Internships 2025

Internship Location: ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP), Irene, Gauteng, South Africa

The Agricultural Research Council – Animal Production (ARC-AP) is offering two (2) internship opportunities for individuals interested in GI Microbiology and Biotechnology, for a period of three years (fixed term contract).


Internship Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to projects by compiling and executing technical activity plans.
  • Perform sample collection, preparation, culturing, DNA extraction, ELISA assays, and data capturing.
  • Assist in managing project purchases and maintaining lab equipment.
  • Compile detailed technical reports, and assist in technology transfer through presentations and publications.
  • Participate in sectional meetings, seminars, workshops, and ensure compliance with OHS policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc Honours in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Genetics or related field,
    OR
  • BSc/BTech in the above fields with at least 1 year relevant experience.
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Academic Record must be attached
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license will be an added advantage
