Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites candidates to apply for Infrastructure System Administrator Internships programmme for academic year 2018 / 2019.

Key responsibilities:
Under Supervision, the intern will be required to:
- Implement operational changes to the ICT infrastructure and applications to ensure proper compliance with release authorisation.
- Conduct back office administration to ensure proper server/service monitoring and administration of back-ups and job schedules according to business needs, service level agreement (SLA) and ICT best practice standards.
- Monitor and report on services/systems availability and capacity thresholds of the ICT infrastructure to ensure availability and accessibility of ICT infrastructure in accordance with SLA.
- Conduct maintenance of the data centre to ensure availability and accessibility of ICT infrastructure in accordance with SLA.
- Respond to data centre service outage and other problems to ensure speedy resolution in accordance with SLA.
- Provide support services to internal ICT clients to ensure speedy resolution of incidents.
- Adhere to ICT standards and procedures, and best practices required to ensure the availability, accessibility and utilisation of infrastructure in line with CSIR business needs.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- A national diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology;
- Certification in Linux essentials, LPI 1, SUSE Administration, MCSE, or MCP will be an advantage
- Knowledge and experience of Linux environments will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of networks, database, server, applications and desktop discipline(s) will be an added advantage
- Good communication and writing skills
