The Department of Tourism invites unemployed South African youth to apply for the Professional Cookery Learnership Programme 2025/2026.

Duration: 12 Months
Monthly Stipend: R4 600
Location: Northern Cape, Gauteng, Eastern Cape (and other provinces)


About the Learnership

This learnership provides participants with the opportunity to gain workplace experience and theoretical training in professional cookery. It prepares learners for careers in the tourism and hospitality industry while promoting inclusivity, with persons living with disabilities strongly encouraged to apply.

Participants will:

  • Gain hands-on cookery training aligned with industry standards.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Enhance their employability in the fast-growing hospitality and tourism sector.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be unemployed youth aged 18–35 years.
  • Hold a Matric certificate (fluency in English required).
  • A Tourism/Hospitality qualification will be an advantage.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours (weekends, public holidays).
  • Submit a CV and motivational letter.
  • Provide certified copies of ID, proof of residence, and qualifications.
  • Disclose if they have previously participated in a Department of Tourism learnership or skills programme.
